Our Story
Paknia Engineering & Architecture was founded by Edouard Paknia, PE, after recognizing a gap in the market for full-service MEP and architecture under one roof.
What began as a small firm has grown into a dual-office practice serving clients across New York City and Southern Connecticut, with a reputation built on technical rigor, regulatory expertise, and a straightforward approach to getting projects done.
Today, the firm's team of licensed engineers and architects brings together expertise across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and architecture, all under one roof.
Our Approach
We are licensed Professional Engineers and registered Architects in New York and Connecticut, with 20+ years of hands-on experience navigating the codes, agencies, and processes that define building work in the Northeast. We don't generalize — we specialize.

We are a boutique firm — and that's intentional. Every project is handled by a licensed senior engineer or architect, not delegated down a chain. You work directly with the people making decisions.
Our process starts with listening. Before we draw anything or file anything, we understand what you're trying to accomplish, what's standing in the way, and what a successful outcome looks like for you. From there, we build a scope of work that is clear, honest, and realistic, and we hold to it.
We've spent over two decades working within New York City's regulatory environment. We know the DOB, the Loft Board, the FDNY, and the agencies in between. That familiarity saves our clients time, money, and the frustration of avoidable surprises.

Meet Our Team

Edouard has been working as a Professional Engineer since 2005. He is licensed in both New York and Connecticut. Edouard has extensive experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering including fire protection, HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Alarm design. His projects span multi-family residential, commercial as well as industrial buildings and complexes. He has worked on both new developments as well as Loft Law legalization work for over two decades.of big-picture thinking and hands-on experience. They set the tone for everything we do.

Jessica is a registered architect with experience in single and multi-family residential developments as well as commercial projects. She has been specializing in NYC Loft Law buildings (Interim Multiple Dwellings) for over a decade. Her expertise in this niche field, along with her professional connections at the NYC Loft Board and Department of Buildings and her intricate knowledge of the various Codes, restrictions and regulations involved in legalization work, make her an invaluable member of the PE&A management team and yield highly successful results for our clients.

Muaaz has been working with Paknia E&A since 2012. He is responsible for the design and project management of building mechanical (HVAC), fire protection (sprinklers and fire alarms) and plumbing systems. His years of experience combined with his extensive knowledge of New York City building Codes, NFPA regulations, Energy Conservation Code and DEP regulations, ensure that only the best designs are produced for our clients.
